John Keogh
Dr John graduated from Sydney University and began his career in general medicine and paediatrics before specialising in obstetrics and gynaecology. His training took him across Sydney, England, Dublin, and Perth — with an early opportunity to work in Tanzania that sparked a lifelong awareness of the challenges women face in childbirth in low-resource settings.
After completing his specialist training, John became Senior Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at King Edward Hospital and the University of Western Australia, where he began research into the causes and outcomes of babies with neurological conditions. He later served for ten years as Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Hornsby Hospital before moving into private practice at the Sydney Adventist Hospital, where he continues to deliver care with a dedicated team of colleagues and midwives.
John is also the co-founder of My Sister’s Baby — a collective of Australian doctors, midwives, and hospitals raising awareness and funds for organisations improving maternal health in low and middle-income countries. With a vision that every woman should have access to skilled, safe care and begin motherhood with joy and confidence, John continues to champion the work of the Barbara May Foundation through both his practice and advocacy.
