Loretta is from Chad, right in the centre of Africa. She had been living with a fistula for three years and is now a widow. Loretta had already used all her savings to travel from Chad to Cameroon to be operated upon, but devastatingly, that operation failed.
Local radio announcements and various churches shared the news that Dr Browning would be visiting the Central African Republic (CAR) with the Lutheran Church, offering fistula surgery treatment for free. Loretta heard this announcement and her community gathered money so she could make a two-day journey on the back of a motorbike, desperately seeking relief.
Dr Browning was able to treat Loretta on his first ever visit to CAR in November. We have recently received news that this courageous and beautiful woman is now fully cured and has been able to return home.
